The Wolverines start there 2010 season against a Big East Foe the Huskies of The University of Connecticut.  The Huskies will travel to Ann Arbor to play there season opener to against Michigan. This will be Michigan’s first game with all the new renovations done to the Big House. The 1st game of the season will be rededication game for Michigan so don’t miss it!

Michigan in its 131 season, game time is 3:30 ET on ABC.

Also there will be a pep rally for all the fans

The University of Michigan football team will host a preseason pep rally this Friday (Sept. 3) at the Diag on central campus, just hours before the 2010 season kicks off against Connecticut inside the newly renovated Michigan Stadium. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

ANN ARBOR,MI–  Turner who came in 2009 as one of the nations top 20 athletes playing the conerback position,wants out of Michigan, he was granted his release from the team. Turner just a day after the first practice he decided this.  The highly athletic Turner will likely transfer somewhere else to play.

Who is going to be taking the first snap in the opener vs. Connecticut? That is also one of the hot topics that revolve around the subject of the 2010 Michigan Wolverines. I, as a Michigan fan, have been wondering myself who is going to be the starter this season. Denard had a great spring game as all of us seen, which leads many of us to believe that he could take the role of the starting quarterback. There are three quarterbacks currently in the mix; Tate Forcier, Denard Robinson, and Devin Gardner, who is a highly touted, dual threat freshman quarterback out of Inkster, Michigan. I can tell you for this season though, Gardner will not be the one starting in Ann Arbor, it’s going to be between Forcier and Robinson.

Coach Rich Rodriguez has stated numerous times that he wants to have 2 guys at every key position that he feels he can win with, including the quarterback position. So it is very possible that if one of the two main candidates for this job doesn’t stand out as a clear cut starter, then we will once again be seeing a little of Tate here, a little of Denard there, similar to last season. Personally, I would prefer to have Tate as the starting man. Denard is very fast, but Tate is the more accurate one of the two. Last season, Denard made some really thoughtless decisions, especially in the Iowa game when he was in the last drive and throws a pass to who knows where and it gets intercepted by Iowa’s Chad Greenwood. I mean, there wasn’t a Michigan receiver even close to that ball. Tate on the other hand needs to be more careful with the football, he runs around the field holding the ball out like a hot potato, so when he gets hit that ball is so much more likely to pop out. But when it comes down to it, Tate seems more to me like the prototypical quarterback, just because he is a more accurate passer than Denard.

This competition is going to go into the season, maybe 4 or 5 games before there is a clear cut starter named. I can tell you this though, if Tate is the starter, you have to have Robinson somewhere on the field because of his speed, he’s too good to be sitting on the bench. From what I seen in the spring game though, Denard looked very crisp on his passes, especially the 97 yard touchdown pass to Roy Roundtree, that was a perfect throw. If Denard can keep consistently throwing as well as he did in the spring game, he very well may be our starting quarterback in 2010. What I think Rodriguez should do is name Tate the starter, and play Denard as an ATH (athlete). ATH’s are your best players because they can play seemingly any position because of their skill level. In Denard’s case, he could very well be an ATH because of his speed and quickness, he could very easily be a receiver or runningback. Whoever Rodriguez names as the starter though, I just hope they can lead this offense to its fullest extent and minimize the turnovers, if they do that then we’ll be in for a great season of Michigan football.

ANN ARBOR,MI–  It was rumors at first, but from a few sources have said now it could be official the Wolverines will play Alabama in 2012 season schedule. The deal that will bring these two teams

together will be signed on Monday.  Not only will they be playing each other they will be playing in Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Dallas,TX.

This will be one of the biggest non conference games from two of the most talked about programs in college football. A game like this will have many people watching and might just help with recruiting for these schools. So write it in your schedule or calender or phone or whatever, Michigan will be playing University of Alabama in 2012 in Dallas.

ANN ARBOR,MI–  The Big Ten championship game is set! It will be held in the Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.  Next year Nebraska will become part of the Big Ten making that a total of 12 teams and two divisions, now will be able to have the Championship game we have always wanted, it will be the 1st conference championship game in Big Ten history.

Also Michigan/Ohio St will continue to play each other as well as Michigan St. The Michigan/Ohio rivalry game might have to change as you know they always play at the end of November.  Even though they will have two divisions, the wolverines will continue to have there rivalry games with Ohio Stand Michigan St.

Espn analyst for college football said, “Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez remains a hot topic. ABC analyst Kirk Herbstreit said Monday at Big Ten media days that expectations are high after the two losing seasons, putting Rodriguez under close watch.

“It seems like they have to get to like a Jan. 1 bowl game,” Herbstreit said. “That’s not me saying that. That’s the feedback I get from a lot of Michigan people. Whether it’s fair or not, it is what it is. Rich will tell you, whether he was starting out or fifth or sixth year, you want to have the opportunity to get to a Jan. 1 bowl game and if you don’t do that … look at (Illinois coach) Ron Zook, three years ago he’s in Pasadena, two losing seasons and now if he doesn’t have a winning season … that’s the way it is.”

So how easy will it be to leap to New Year’s Day after two bowl-less seasons?

“I think this year, this is such a tough year, you go through everything they’ve been through the first three years and you get all the problems off the field are unprecedented in Ann Arbor,” Herbstreit said. “It’s not just about winning, he almost has to get to 10 or 11 wins for this thing to subside and everybody to relax. But as far as what Michigan has to do, they have to go back out and recruit. Right now they’re fighting too many negative battles in recruiting to have a chance to bring in those players you expect to have on an annual basis.”

“Sitting there, looking at their secondary, I said, this doesn’t seem like Michigan football,” Herbstreit said. “I don’t know the details as far as the scholarship numbers and where they lost players. But I know that when Lloyd (Carr) left, if Lloyd would have come back the next year, they still were going to struggle. A coach is as good as his personnel. For people to assume Rich Rodriguez has forgotten how to coach after the success he had in Morgantown is crazy. But he needs players.”

Is 10-11 wins possible this year for the Wolverines? Will they get to a major bowl game in January? One can only hope. As for us fans we just need to sit back, relax and get ready for football because Michigan will be ready to play this year! They will get to a good bowl game and have successful year. GO BLUE!!!!

Football betting fans should consider the Wolverines are 5-1 against the main rivals Ohio State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame, where their only win came against the Fighting Irish last season, and it seems like this won’t change at all in the upcoming season.

I know you are probably thinking “they will be fine, their offense is pretty good.” Yeah it is, but it doesn’t change the fact that they have been a joke since Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller, and Lloyd Carr left the program.
Rodriguez is making a transition, but it doesn’t seem to be going smoothly at all.  Just remember in 2009 when the Detroit Free Press reported that Rodriguez and his staff were habitually violating NCAA limits on practice times and off-season workouts.

In addition, their schedule looks brutal in the beginning.

First, they have a season opener against a hard opponent in the Connecticut Huskies at Ann Arbor, then they travel to Notre Dame to play against the Irish, then they host the Michigan State Spartans, and they finish a cruel start with a visit to Ohio State.

If Michigan wants a Bowl shot, they will have to get a couple of wins in those four games, at least.

The main question for them will be about their defense. Can that defense be competitive enough to give the offense a chance?
