The Wolverines Could Have a Long 2010 Season

by admin on July 20, 2010

Coach Rich Rodriguez will have another tough year with the Michigan Wolverines, especially considering their big defensive star Brandon Graham entered the 2010 NFL draft. Now their defense –which was a train wreck-, is even worse than last year.

Football betting fans should consider the Wolverines are 5-1 against the main rivals Ohio State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame, where their only win came against the Fighting Irish last season, and it seems like this won’t change at all in the upcoming season.

I know you are probably thinking “they will be fine, their offense is pretty good.” Yeah it is, but it doesn’t change the fact that they have been a joke since Bo Schembechler, Gary Moeller, and Lloyd Carr left the program.
Rodriguez is making a transition, but it doesn’t seem to be going smoothly at all.  Just remember in 2009 when the Detroit Free Press reported that Rodriguez and his staff were habitually violating NCAA limits on practice times and off-season workouts.

In addition, their schedule looks brutal in the beginning.

First, they have a season opener against a hard opponent in the Connecticut Huskies at Ann Arbor, then they travel to Notre Dame to play against the Irish, then they host the Michigan State Spartans, and they finish a cruel start with a visit to Ohio State.

If Michigan wants a Bowl shot, they will have to get a couple of wins in those four games, at least.

The main question for them will be about their defense. Can that defense be competitive enough to give the offense a chance?

As an avid fan of the Wolverine history and football program I am at the edge of the cliff waiting to throw all of my Michigan apparell off of it. Rich Rodriguez has taken the most successful college football program to it’s lowest point ever. The coaching staff is corrupt, the player talent level is literally non-existent, and the losses are mounting up much faster than support for RichRod – oh yes, he still gets his multi-million dollar salary and perk package regardless of performance. It’s almost a joke to even mention Michigan football at a party, any social gathering, or while sitting on the throne – RichRod has led this program into an image of losers, not winners. His almost famous “spread offense” is a real disaster. The basics – blocking, tackling, running, punting, passing, catching, and winning are gone – he has taken the basics out of the team and it shows. The one thing that remains is that Dave Brandon and Mary Sue Coleman have been blind-sided by RichRod as well as the fans, the media, and most importantly – the players. The only way Michigan football is going to return to it’s days of glory and winning is to hire a coach from a truly big time environment. West Virginia is made of miners and hill folks – they don’t know much about winning big time. They just watch the kids run around the hils and valleys – what a joke it was to pay for such a small time coach that has proven one thing – he knows how to lose big time.
